Continuing the same service
which the library has provided since 1965, we will be offering
story hour for pre-schoolers, summer reading programs for all children,
adult programs, a computer workstation, an enhanced local history area and
many amenities which will make the new Beekman Library appealing to all
our community.
We will continue adding to our
collection as soon as space is available. We now have a large video collection,
over 125 DVD's, over 700 talking books, large print books, magazines, and
a young adult section. We are looking forward to a bright and cheery childrens'
room.
The library, as a member of
the Mid-Hudson Library System, (MHLS), can provide inter-library loan of
materials from other libraries. As a service to our patrons, we also furnish
a copy machine for public use and we will fax materials for the public.
The library assocation is conducting
a capital campaign to raise funds which will be used to furnish the interior
of the new building. The goal is to have a first class library for the new
millenium.
Volunteers are always welcome
and the Friends of the Beekman Library are eager for new recruits. Call
