BEEKMAN BOOKENDS - December, 2007

Beekman Library is busier than ever!!

Many children and adult programs are being offered. Please check out our calendars on the website or stop in to see what interests you. There are too many choices to name them all here!

As a new holiday season approaches, we ready the way for our traditional Cookie Sale and Silent Auction. Started long ago, our patrons donate homemade cookies which are packaged with ribbons and bows and ready to give. Whether you need hostess gifts, teachers gifts, or at $4.00 a box a gift to yourself, you can’t go wrong!

Our Silent Auction offers gifts at a price you want to pay! Local businesses donate new items that just might be what that special someone on your list is looking for. Some choices include: collectibles, Lenox, handmade hats and scarves and wine. Big thanks to those that have donated, and of course, we would never say no to more donations of auction items or cookies!!

Come by for a visit to see the new plantings along our front walkway. Peter DeLucca chose to honor Lee Eaton’s memory to fulfill his Eagle Scout project. He and his volunteers did a wonderful job. Monetary contributions are still being accepted to offset costs.

The ladies at the library thought it best to let things settle, but now agree it is time. A Lee Eaton Memorial Committee has been selected and given the task of finding how to best honor Lee. Any donations accepted in Lee’s memory will go directly to this memorial, unless requested otherwise.

The library board has the task of filling the director’s seat. Lee was very inspirational to us all and in turn, we use that inspiration not only to run the library on a day to day basis, but in selecting a new director to continue the traditions of the Beekman Library.

Whether for cookies, gifts, or some good books to read, we hope you join us. The Auction is set and ready to go until December 15th. Cookies can be dropped off Friday the 14th and purchased on the 15th.

Warm wishes for happy holidays!

As we enjoy happy memories of old friends and anticipation of new, join us, here, between the Beekman Bookends.

VP, Library Board
